How To Craft An Effective Home Selling Sign

Real Estate Blog

Reading a "for sale" sign is usually one of the first ways people learn that a property is on the market to be sold. This means a good sign will go a long way in helping you attract potential customers. Whether you are a realtor or a homeowner, use the following tips to help you design and write an effective "for sale" sign.

Use a Frame

Instead of using one big piece of material, consider using a frame that holds the actual sign within it. This way, you can change the sign by swapping out the sign and replacing it with a different one depending on the occasion without replacing the whole sign. For example, you can have a "for sale" sign on most of the days and then use an "open day" sign when holding an open day without replacing the whole sign.

Keep It Simple

A good sign should be simple: it should contain a few words or symbols or letters that anyone can easily understand. The more symbols you cram on your sign, the harder it will be for passersby to read it. Not only that, but some of your extra words or signs may detract from the key information.

Accessorize the Sign

You don't have to leave out important information from your sign just because you don't want to clutter it. Instead, you can stick the key information on the main sign within the frame and then place the rest of the information on riders accessorizing the frame. Apart from carrying extra information, the accessories should also decorate and draw attention to the sign. In fact, you can even use accessories that don't carry any extra information as long as they can draw attention to the sign. Things like balloons and flags, for example, make great decorations.

Make It Attention-Grabbing

If there is a way you can make your sign attention-grabbing, do it because it will help your sign be seen with as many people as possible. You can do this in several ways, but one of the most effective ways is to include catchy phrases such as "pool included," "great view," or "newly renovated," among others.

Include a QR Code

Lastly, you can also make your sign even more useful by including a QR code. Interested parties can then scan the code with their phones and get access to further information about the house. For example, you can link the code to the relevant property listing or a website that contains more information, such as pictures, of the house on sale.
